Admissions
Prospective students can apply to the Doctoral School through the admissions process announced once a year. Applications for admission must be submitted to the Secretary of the Doctoral School by the announced date, together with a receipt proving the payment of the admission fee. Applicants with a foreign diploma must – based on the relevant laws – have their diploma accredited by the Hungarian state prior to applying. University students who have not yet obtained their degree must attach to the application form a copy of their electronic gradebook. Any decision to admit such students will be conditional, pending their graduation. The deadline for applications is 31 May every year.
If necessary, a second round of applications may be announced, with a deadline of 21 August every year.
As part of the admissions procedure, an oral interview with applicants is carried out in the middle of June (and in the case of a second round of applications, at the beginning of September), at a time and location announced by the Doctoral School. Applicants are notified of the time and location by the Secretary of the Doctoral School via e-mail. Based on the the oral interview, the Admissions Committee makes an assessment of the professional intelligence of the applicant, as well as his or her motivations and goals in terms of the doctoral training. Applicants are evaluated by the Admissions Committee in the following general categories: prior professional / scientific achievements (awards, publications), knowledge of foreign languages, grades received within the MSc (or other university) program, letter(s) of recommendation and potentially other aspects detailed in the regulations of the Doctoral School.
Based on a ranking of applicants following the assessment of the Admissions Committee, the TDT makes the decision on whether to admit each applicant. With respect to each applicant, the TDT may make any one of the following decisions:
a) Admission for full-time, government-funded doctoral program (national scholarship for daytime program),
b) Admission for full-time, tuition-based doctoral program (daytime program to be financed by the applicant or by a private scholarship)
c) Admission for tuition-based individual doctoral program,
d) Rejection of the applicant
Applicants are notified of the decision made by the TDT in writing by the Secretary of the Doctoral School.
